Ways You Can Make an Extra $500 a Month

What would you do with an extra $500 a month? Pay down debt? Invest it? Save it for a big purchase? I can think of a hundred different things you could do with an extra $500 a month. And the good news is that it really isn’t as hard as you think to make that money. Sure, it will require hard work and consistency on your part, but it can be done. If you’re in need of some extra money here are some ways you make an extra $500 a month. Flip Items for Profit How fun is it to find a good deal on something and then resell it for a profit? If this is something you’re good it consider flipping items. Look on Craigslist, Facebook Yard Sales, thrift stores, and garage sales for bargains. You can either find items that are really underpriced and resell them as is, or you can find larger items like furniture, give them a makeover and then charge double or more of what you have in the pieces. Detail Cars Detailing cars could be the fast route to that extra $500 a month. On average you can charge $100 per car. (You may be able to charge much more for really dirty cars.) You’d only have to detail 5 cars per month to earn your $500! Best of all finding 5 clients shouldn’t be too hard and you’ll get to work around your schedule. Become a Search Engine Evaluator Did you know that the big search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing actually pay people to critique their search results? Here’s how it works: you check the results of certain searches and then rate them. Basically you’re telling the search engines whether they’ve done a good job or not. The pay usually ranges from $12-$15 dollars per hour. If you started off at $12 an hour you’d need to work about 42 hours per month or 10 hours week to reach your $500 goal. Write for Money Writing for money has become a very popular way to bring in some extra money each month. That’s because there are countless businesses in need of new content for their websites or blogs. The pay you receive varies widely when it comes to writing. For instance if you write for magazines you might be able to pull in $500 for one feature article. If you write for blogs you can charge $20 – $30 per blog post meaning you’d need to write 17 – 25 articles per month to reach $500. Then there’s the low hanging fruit that many writers choose: content mills. Content mills are simply writing platforms where businesses request articles and writers can choose which ones they want to write. The catch? Many content mills will only pay about $2 per article meaning you’ll have to write 250 pieces before you reach $500!! My advice is to go with one of the first two sources mentioned. Clean or Organize for Others Everyone is busy these days. As a result chores like cleaning and organizing are being hired out. If you’re a great cleaner or organizer capitalize on those skills! Charge $50 per house (or more for large houses) and go in there and get the job done. You can start out by cleaning and offer organizing as an add-on service to your cleaning clients. If you can get 10 repeat clients every month you’re on your way to at least $500 a month in extra money! Do Odd Jobs If you like to work with your hands, know how to fix things, and have no problem working a variety of jobs mix it up by doing some odd jobs. A lot of times you’ll see postings on Craigslist where someone needs help moving, mowing their lawn, or planting their garden. So start there. Look for different jobs that you can do. You can also market your services by word of mouth. Make a list of services you want to offer, post them on your Facebook page, and have your friends and family do the same. Conclusion These are only 6 ideas for you. The truth is when it comes to making extra money you’re only limited by your imagination. If none of these ideas resonated with you sit down and make a list of your skills. There’s surely something that you’re good at that will help your bring in that extra $500 a month.
